Visit of Minister of State Colm Brophy T.D., with responsibility for Overseas Development Aid and Diaspora
The week of March 14th, the Irish Minister of State with responsibility for Overseas Development Aid and Diaspora, Colm Brophy TD, traveled to Guadalajara and Mexico City on the first Irish Ministerial visit to Mexico in three years.
The Minister engaged in a number of high-level political, business, and cultural meetings and activities designed to promote Irish-Mexican trade and economic relations, as well as boost Ireland’s profile in Mexico.
The Minister met with the Chamber President and Board members on a number of occasions throughout the week in both cities, and worked with them on promoting the interests of the IMC and its members. Shortly after the February launch of the Irish Government’s first-ever strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean, the visit is a welcome engagement by an Irish minister and sends a strong signal of engagement with Mexico and the wider region.
