Tony Wilkes is originally from Dublin, Ireland, and has been living in Mexico for 33 years. As General Manager, he arrived to Querétaro in 1991to open up the Berlitz School of Languages and was later promoted to Regional Manager of the same company covering the cities of Querétaro, León, Aguascalientes, and Guadalajara.

Since 2015 he has been running his own language and translation school, Trinity Language Institute, which is also located in the city of Querétaro.
He has been in charge of the participation of Ireland at the “ Foreign Communities Festival of Querétaro” for the last 13 years, as well as being the representative of the Irish Community for the same locality.

Mr. González received his BSc. degree in Computer Science from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Dallas. He is president of the Energy Commission of the CCE (Mexican Chamber of Commerce), President of the Mexican Section of the Binational Energy Council Mexico-US, Leader of the Energy section for the US-MEX CEO Dialogue.

He is an independent Board member of the Mexican Petroleum Institute and other institutions. He recently served as Global VP of Energy for CEMEX and CEO of CEMEX Energy. Mr. González was part of CEMEX for more than 23 years, holding positions in Finance and as General Manager of CEMEX’s in Ireland as CEO of Readymix plc. As head of Energy for CEMEX he was responsible for the global fuels and power strategy and sourcing. He started and developed CEMEX Energia (Mexico), as CEO he led the development of power projects worth more than US$2 Bn and the creation of one of the largest private energy dispatch and asset management units in Mexico including the commercialization of more than 2 Gw of power in Mexico. His role included being CEO of Transenergy, a Houston,USA based company responsible for for sourcing and trading of coal and petcoke worldwide.
He has directed the financial integration of acquisitions in Egypt, the United States and Europe.

Previously, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gas Industrial Monterrey, Member of the Board of the CCE Sustainability Group (CESPEDES),the European Organization of Concrete Producers and the Federation of Construction Materials in Ireland
Mr. González has been a speaker at different forums, including: Bloomberg New Energy Finance in New York, The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi, the US Gulf Energy Association (USGCPA) in English), The Mexican Wind Energy Association, The Northeast Clients Council of CitiBanamex, IMEF, Los Angeles Business Council and many others.

Mr. González has made several publications on Treasury Operations, is an avid collector of postage stamps, a life member of the American philatelic society; Since 2012 he is a certified member of the Society of Technical Analysts in the United Kingdom.
